Every KREAZ shelf passes through four moments before it belongs to a wall. Three happen in our workshop. One happens with you.
We think that last step is the most important one.
STEP 1 - FOLD
Take the steel sheet out of the cotton bag and lay it flat on a firm surface.
Apply firm, even pressure along the scored fold lines, one wing at a time. Fold each wing to 90 degrees. The steel will resist as you apply pressure — keep going. You will feel the resistance peak and then pass through it. That is normal.
Both wings should be at 90 degrees to the shelf face when done.
One fold only. Do not unfold and refold. The fold is a one-time action — reversing it compromises the structure.
STEP 2 - LOCK
With both wings folded, press the locking tab firmly into its receiving slot.
You will feel it engage. Once locked, pull the wing gently to confirm — it should hold without flex. The shelf will not reopen on its own.
A small amount of firm pressure may be needed to fully seat the lock. If it does not engage after firm pressure, do not force it. Contact us.
STEP 3 - MARK THE WALL
Hold the assembled shelf flat against the wall at your chosen height. Use a pencil to mark through both pre-drilled mounting holes.
Use a spirit level if you want the shelf precisely horizontal. A 4mm variation across 30cm is visible. Worth taking 30 seconds.
STEP 4 - MOUNT
Drill at your pencil marks using a 6mm drill bit. Insert the rawl plugs flush with the wall surface.
Hold the shelf flat against the wall, aligning the holes over the plugs. Drive the screws through the shelf holes and into the wall until the shelf sits firm and does not move.
Wall type note: The included fixings are rated for solid masonry and plasterboard over timber stud. For dot-and-dab plasterboard or hollow stud walls, use appropriate cavity anchors — these are not included. If you are unsure of your wall type, check before drilling.
